The TradeWaiters 48: “The Prince and the Dressmaker” by Jen Wang

Listen in as Jon, Jess, Jeff, Jam, and Kaye read The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang. This book is a stunning piece of cartooning and an instant classic. It’s a fairytale-esque historical drama about a genderfluid prince and his fashion designer slash muse slash confidante.

“Fir Valley” by Jason Turner now in the Cloudscape store 1

Cloudscape is excited to announce that Fir Valley by Jason Turner is now available in our online store. This graphic novel is a full-colour supernatural mystery-thriller set in the enigmatic town of Fir Valley, which is nestled in a valley surrounded by BC’s iconic mountains and forests. A man has been murdered and a child has disappeared; who or what is responsible? As the mystery is investigated, numerous dark secrets of Fir Valley come to light before the reader’s eyes.

The creator, local cartoonist Jason Turner, is known for his wide variety of graphic novels. He previously created the True Loves comics trilogy with his wife Manien Bothma, as well as Farm School, The Adulation, and Bird Comics.

October 24, Launch Party for "The Field" by Ed Brisson and Simon Roy

The Field

Friday, October 24, is the launch party for The Fielda new graphic novel written by local comic creator Ed Brisson and illustrated by Simon Roy! In this story, an underwear-clad amnesiac, an ex-Bible salesman on a meth-induced murder spree, a seedy biker gang on a revenge mission, and a group of cosplayers out to save the world all converge together in a bizarre and disturbing tale.

Arcana's Howard Lovecraft Kickstarter



We at Cloudscape always like to keep an eye on what fellow local comic creators are up to. Arcana is a Vancouver-based comics company that has published a wide variety of stuff. They currently have a Kickstarter for Howard & the Three Kingdoms, a hardcover book collecting three graphic novels: Howard Lovecraft & the Frozen Kingdom, Howard Lovecraft & the Undersea Kingdom, and Howard Lovecraft & the Kingdom of Madness. These books chronicle the adventures of a young H. P. Lovecraft as he encounters a wide variety of monstrous forces akin to what he would later write about.
