Cloudscape Comics' Premier Digital Comic Magazine 1

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Submission deadline: Friday June 10, 2011, 11PM PST. Email Submissions to promotions@cloudscapecomics.com

The Cloudscape Comics Society is a British Columbia based non profit dedicated to supporting the comics community. We are currently calling for submissions to an ongoing comic magazine project that will be distributed digitally as an eBook and PDF.

About the Magazine

The theme of this magazine is comics by and about women. Both male and female comic artists may apply, but stories must feature a female protagonist. We are looking for a diversity of realistic and thematic portrayals of Women from any genre. Over-sexualized or objectified depictions of women will NOT be considered. All stories should be suited for teenagers and adults with no content that would be considered pornographic.

Our Comic Magazine will feature 12-20 artists doing stories in increments. This means you should have a long form story idea that you would like to publish over one or two years, and are sure you can maintain the update schedule, responsibilities and editorial process for that long. We are looking for long term, committed artists only.

The magazine will be sold and distributed digitally by Cloudscape Comics exclusively. Contributors will be compensated by Cloudscape from sales.

The release schedule for the magazine will be determined by the contributors and Cloudscape Comics together. We are aiming for Quarterly to Twice Yearly releases and thus are looking for artists that can complete 25-40 high quality B&W or colour pages in 3-6 months. The magazine will be edited and organized online, so people from all over the world may contribute.

Ideal Applicants

We are looking for artists or artist-writer teams that want to be engaged and highly participatory in this project. We will be working on peer review and sharing of editorial duties, so people who are interested in helping the project succeed as a whole as well as contributing their own story are ideal. Artists and writers should be highly motivated, easy to communicate with online and willing to participate in our magazine’s forum. Applicants must be legal age to sign a contract in their place of residence (19 years old in British Columbia) or have a legal representative (parent, guardian) who has approved your participation.

Submission Guidelines

The Cloudscape Comics Society has a mandate to support British Columbia based comic artists. As such, the majority of contributors to our magazine must be current or former residents of British Columbia, Canada. For example, if we have 20 contributors, 11 spots will be reserved for BC artists and 9 will be available to artists from elsewhere in the world.
