In general, growing up is tough, but it’s much tougher when you feel like everyone else was given the rulebook to life except you. This is the life of Matthew Nielsen, one of many autistic experiences out there. From early challenges of his parents trying to get him diagnosed and trying to find a school with the right support, to later challenges such as jobs and independent living, this book tells the story of Matthew’s journey. Controlling anger, gaining empathy, learning compassion and respect – these are many lessons relayed in The Big Soup.
The Big Soup is a big book with an important story, and full of Matthew’s excellent art. There are lots of rewards available (although the early bird reward is gone now, sorry!). This promises to be a unique addition to the Cloudscape lineup of graphic novels, and we’re all looking forward to seeing it take its final form!
